These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of gotalkify.com and the GoTalkify services. By creating an account or booking a lesson, you agree to these Terms.
1. The service
GoTalkify is a marketplace connecting students with independent tutors for one-on-one online English and French lessons. Tutors are independent professionals, not employees of GoTalkify. All lessons take place online via Google Meet links generated by the platform.
2. Accounts
You must provide accurate information when registering and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. You must be at least 18 to create an account; lessons for children must be booked and supervised by a parent or legal guardian.
3. Trial lessons
A trial lesson is a full-length lesson charged at the selected tutor's regular hourly rate. Trial fees are retained by the platform. Each student may book at most one trial lesson per tutor.
4. Lesson hours, packages and subscriptions
Prepaid lesson hours are tied to the specific tutor they were purchased with, at that tutor's rate at the time of purchase. Subscriptions bill every 28 days and credit a fixed number of hours per cycle; unused hours roll over while the subscription remains active. Cancelling a subscription stops future billing; already-credited hours remain usable. Rate changes by a tutor never affect hours you have already purchased. Transfers of hour value between tutors are handled by our support team.
5. Cancellations, rescheduling and no-shows
Students may cancel or reschedule free of charge at least 12 hours before a lesson's start time; the hour is returned to their balance. Cancellations less than 12 hours before the start, and student no-shows, forfeit the hour and the tutor is paid. If a tutor cancels or fails to attend, the hour is always returned to the student. Repeated tutor cancellations may lead to removal from the platform.
6. Payments and refunds
All payments are processed securely by Stripe in USD. Funds for booked lessons are held by the platform and released to tutors only after lesson confirmation. A lesson is confirmed when the student confirms it or automatically 72 hours after its scheduled end. Refunds outside the cancellation policy are assessed case by case by our support team.
7. Tutor terms
Tutors apply through the application form and may teach only after approval. Tutors set their own hourly rates, manage their availability, and must attend booked lessons punctually. GoTalkify deducts a platform commission from each completed regular lesson before crediting the tutor's wallet. Withdrawals are made via Stripe Connect. Tutors are responsible for their own taxes.
8. Acceptable conduct
You agree not to harass or discriminate against other users, share offensive content, record lessons without consent, or attempt to move payments off-platform (circumventing the platform to pay tutors directly is prohibited). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
9. Intellectual property and liability
All platform content, branding and software are owned by GoTalkify or its licensors. Teaching materials remain the property of their creators. The service is provided "as is"; to the maximum extent permitted by law, GoTalkify's liability is limited to the amounts you paid in the twelve months preceding the claim. We are not liable for the conduct or content of lessons, which are the responsibility of the participating tutor and student.
10. Changes, governing law and contact
We may update these Terms; continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be notified on the site or by email. For any question about these Terms, contact legal@gotalkify.com.
